IT WOULD BE A BLESSING TO HAVE YOU AS A CLIENT!
To help you better understand what GeekPreach is offering your organization, we want to explain what is typically involved in created and hosting a website:
DOMAINS:
As you already know, every website begins with a domain (a web address). A domain is like a phone number, once you type it into your browser, it takes you where you want to go. A domain has an average annual cost attached to it of about $15 per year. A domain has to be purchased and then it must be configured to point to the place where your website resides.
Since you already have a domain, you have a choice, (A) you can leave the domain with the current domain registrar OR (B) you can transfer it to GeekPreach. Either way is fine, but be aware that GeekPreach will need login information for your current domain no matter what choice you pick so that we can configure the domain once your new website is under construction.
SERVERS:
Now, let’s talk about “the place where your website resides“. “That place” is called a server. A server is a remote computer that stores all the pictures, text and code that make up your website. What do we mean by remote? It is a computer that is not in your office or in your home, it is usually many miles away and it is connected to the Internet using fiber optics for a fast connection. The servers GeekPreach uses are located in a large climate controlled room with diesel powered electric generators (in case of a power outage). These servers are running 99.9% of the time without interruption. This means the websites stored on these servers seldom disappear from the Internet.
Your current website will have to be transferred to our servers. This will require all the files that make up your current website. These files can be obtained from your current hosting company via FTP (File Transfer Protocol). To put it simply, GeekPreach will need contact information, login information for your hosting account or FTP login information. We will help you gather this information if you’re unsure where obtain it.
HOSTING:
Don’t miss this: The storing of your website and “serving” it to your website visitors is called “Hosting“. Web hosting is usually a monthly fee that begins at about $25 per month.
You will be expected to continue paying for hosting once your website has be activated on our servers at a cost of $15/month. Though you may be able to find a cheaper hosting company, let us say that these other companies are not helping other Christians to further their ministry. They are geared primarily for your ministry and you will not be contributing to the Kingdom of God. Not to mention, they will bill you and expect payment on time. At least GeekPreach is trusting you to bless someone with your blessings.
WEB DEVELOPMENT:
Before hosting a website can begin, there must be a website. The creation of the website is called “Web Development and Design” Again, a website consist of text, pictures, video, graphics, and coding. The coding tells the other components where and how to appear on the website. There is usually a one time fee for creating a website, configuring a domain to connect to a server and getting everything to work together. This one time fee starts at about $300 for a single page and can go up according to the size and features of a website.
GeekPreach also offers CMS (Content Management System) making it possible for you to update your web pages from any computer, anywhere at any time. If you don’t already have a website that does this, talk to us about upgrading to a CMS website.
PLANNING:
This is where you come in handy. The process of transferring your website begins with locating and supplying all the information to login to your domain registrar and your hosting company. If you gather this information beforehand the faster and smoother the process toward completion will be.
Begin your website transfer to GeekPreach by purchasing any one or more of our services:
